What are Transaction IDs and why do I need them?

The Transaction ID is used by Seraf to import and track each individual transaction you upload using the spreadsheet template. For all the transactions associated with a given company, we recommend you use the first few letters of the company name followed by a number. For example, if you have 3 investments/transactions in Acme, you would assign Transaction IDs acm1, acm2 and acm3. If the next company was Seraf, you would use ser1, ser2, etc.

Once you complete the import process, your spreadsheet templates are stored in Documents & Reports under the Imports tab. If you choose to enter additional transactions using the import method, you can refer back to your naming schema at any time. Please note, however, that Transaction IDs are only required when using the Import method.
